Bathroom Renovation Designs

At MMD Property Maintenance & Solutions, we find clients sometimes have a misconception that small bathrooms should be done in a light colour palette to make space appear larger and reflect natural light. However, darker colours can make a bold statement and add a touch of luxury. The key to making a small bathroom work is to reduce clutter and keep the look minimal and clean.

To make a dramatic statement, our team recommend you go for darker floor tiles and wall paint while keeping the wall tiles white and large to reduce grout lines.

If your preference is a coastal or Scandi look, consider layering different shades of white and add a stone or timber bench to your vanity.

Using feature and pattern tiles is a great idea, however, in a small space use delicate and finely patterned tiles rather than bold patterns as this can be too overwhelming.  A textural contrast can be a subtle design strategy effective in a small space.  Consider layering gloss and matt-finish tiles in the same colour for a sophisticated look.

Lighting also plays a key role in small bathrooms.  A hanging light in the corner over the vanity will light up a dark corner. Another tip, choose gloss wall tiles to reflect natural daylight around the room.

Our Geelong bathroom renovation experts share their top tips for a successful bathroom design;

  1. Ensure you choose a tile you love, as you will be likely living with it for many years to come.
  2. Choosing wall and floor tiles in the same colour will give you a clean, cohesive look.
  3. Always match the colour of the grout to the tile colour, unless you specifically want to highlight the tile shape or layout.
  4. Take advantage of natural lighting where possible. Skylights are great for this!

Ultimately, your bathroom should suit you and your personality.  Don’t be shy, make some bold choices!  If you are thinking it is time to take the leap, call our local to Bellarine Peninsula team at MMD for a quote.  03 5222 6022.
